Microsoft Hyper-V is a virtualisation software that not only virtualises operating systems but is capable of virtualising complete hardware components, like hard drive and network switches. Hyper-V is not limited to your device, it can be utilised for server virtualisation too.

There are necessary parts required by Hyper-V that work together to enable you to create and run virtual machines. The combination of these parts is referred to as the virtualisation platform. These parts are installed as a group when you install the Hyper-V role.
The parts in this set include Windows hypervisor, the virtual machine bus (VMbus), Hyper-V Virtual Management Service, virtualisation service provider (VSP), the virtualisation WMI provider and virtual infrastructure driver (VID).
Hyper-V also possesses tools for connectivity and management. These can be installed both on the same computer that Hyper-V role is installed on and on computers where the Hyper-V role is not installed. These tools include Hyper-V Manager, Windows PowerShell Direct, Hyper-V module for Windows PowerShell and Virtual Machine Connection (which is sometimes referred to as VMConnect).
When purchasing a Broadberry storage solution, installation of Microsoft Hyper-V can be taken care of by our trained engineers.
More companies than ever before are switching to virtualisation. There are a huge number of ways that virtualisation can help your business. Here are a few –
There are many benefits to configuring your Broadberry CyberStore Storage Appliance with Hyper-V. With Hyper-V you can establish or expand a private cloud environment. You will be able to provide IT services with increased flexibility through moving to or expand your usage of shared resources.
With Hyper-V you can use your hardware a lot more effectively. Servers and workloads can be consolidated onto fewer, more powerful physical computers in order to use less power and space.
Business continuity is improved as you limit the potential disturbance of both scheduled and unscheduled downtime of your works.
You can establish or expand a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). Utilising a centralised desktop strategy with VDI can aid you in increasing data security and business agility, in addition to simplifying regulatory compliance and managing desktop operating systems and applications. By deploying Hyper-V and Remote Desktop Virtualisation Host (RD Virtualisation Host) onto the same server you can make personal virtual desktops or virtual desktop pools available to your users.
Developing and testing can be made more efficient. Reproducing different computing environment without needing to purchase or maintain all of the hardware you would require if you only used physical systems.
One of the key features of Hyper-V is Dynamic Memory. Dynamic Memory is a memory allocation feature which pools the hosts memory and distributes resources to virtual machines that require it. When this feature is enabled, the VM discloses the amount of memory it requires and the host provides that amount plus some extra that is used as a buffer. Dynamic Memory rebalances the hosts memory in one-second intervals and allows for VMs to be prioritised with regards to memory usage.
Another feature is Nested Virtualisation. Nested virtualisation refers to running a virtualised environment within a virtualised environment. Nested virtualisation is an important factor in test environments. Hyper-V can now be nested to simulate whole virtualised environments, without the sky-high cost of dedicated equipment.
The virtual Trusted Platform Module (TPM) allows you to encrypt your virtual machine with the BitLocker technology from Microsoft Corp. There are many advantages to utilising TPM technology. The main benefits include being able to generate, store and limit the usage of cryptographic keys and ensuring the integrity of the platform through taking and storing security measurements.
With Host Resources Protection, the VM will be prevented from using any resources other than the ones that have been allotted to it. The virtual machines are constantly monitored for any additional activity and if any is detected, the VM is penalised through being assigned less resources, so that the performance of the other VMs is not affected. This is an important feature as virtual machines that have become infected often end up running at 100% CPU load, without any warning. This causes problems in the other virtual machines and even the Hyper-V host itself.
The Broadberry CyberStore Storage Appliances feature zero vendor lock-in.
The majority of brands in this industry take advantage of vendor lock-in to keep you tied into their ecosystem. It benefits them; however, it restricts your business. Especially as you continue to continue to evolve as a business.
Broadberry storage servers are never vendor locked, you will always retain the freedom to use whatever third-party hardware you wish with your CyberStore storage appliance, granting you full control of your data centre.
In addition to being free of vendor lock-in, Broadberry CyberStore storage appliances feature full compatibility with all major storage server software, meaning you have all the control and will always be able to switch to another OS if the need arises. This becomes really important as your business continues to grow and your needs evolve.
More than three decades of reliably delivering storage technology has allowed Broadberry to work with some of the worlds largest brands, including NASA, the BBC, Disney, Sky, ITV, the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Sony, CERN, Toshiba, Toyota and many more.
Find out how Broadberry’s enterprise-grade server and storage solutions can benefit your business today.
Broadberry CyberStore storage appliances not vendor locked, giving you full freedom to use whichever hardware you want with your server. With no vendor lock-in, you have a lot more choice and freedom and can make your own decisions on the additions you want to make to your server.
The Broadberry CyberStore storage appliance features full compatibility with all major storage server software.Your solution can be configured perfectly fit the requirements of your business.
Our range of solutions are can be configured to perfectly fit the requirements of your organisation. They are compatible with every major server software available on the market, a special feature in an industry where most servers are locked into a single operating system.
The Broadberry CyberStore range of enterprise-grade storage servers are designed and built for a wide-range of storage applications.
Completely customisable from processing to storage type and capacity, to operating system - the CyberStore range is your go-to storage platform.
The CyberStore range of storage servers are used by the world's largest organisations from the BBC, to the CERN project, governement institutions, universities and much more.
Year-after-year, the Broadberry CyberStore range of unified storage appliances has beaten the likes of Dell and HPE to be crowned "Best Storage Appliance" by PC Pro magazine.
When compared to the likes of DELL, HPE, EMC etc, the Broadberry CyberStore range of enterprise-grade unified storage appliances is up to 60% cheaper, although using the same quality components such as Seagate drives and Kingston RAM.
The Bradberry CyberStore range has been built from industry-leading commodity hardware, and carefully designed to ensuure full compatibility with leading storage operating systems and database engines.
Broadberry enterprise storage appliances are on average 86% lower cost than EMC and 55% lower cost than DELL although built using the same leading-brand server components such as Intel processors and Samsung memory. HPE hard drives are rebadged Toshiba enterprise-class drives, the exact same models as found in Broadberry storage appliances.
When you buy a Broadberry storage appliance all drive bays are supplied with caddies - so if in 6 months time you decide to expand the storage you can source it freely from the marketplace or ourselves if you wish. The only way to add hard drives to HPE servers is to buy the drives along with caddies from HPE for 200% the price of Broadberry's price.
Broadberry storage appliances come with enterprise-grade features like IPMI included, whereas HPE charge large fees for perpetual licences for the same features.
Our website allows you to configure your server online with accurate prices, as opposed to NetApp who require several face-to-face meetings with them before they'll give you a price.
Over recent years there's been a massive move from the world's largest organisations such as Google to purchase their servers from the likes of Broadberry rather than DELL and HPE. This move is fuelled by the rise in commodity hardware.
